Blair, Porter, Tutu for Discovery Leadership Summit
TONY BLAIR, ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU and MICHAEL PORTER will be part of a line-up of speakers discussing government, economics and business issues at this year’s Discovery Invest Leadership Summit in Sandton at the end of August.

Desmond Tutu and Michael Porter will form part of an impressive line-up of
local and international leaders speaking at the fourth annual Discovery Invest
Leadership Summit. To be held on 30
August 2012 at the Sandton Convention Centre, the event has become synonymous
with leading global thought leadership on issues relating to business,
economics, government and leadership.

Tony Blair was Prime
Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for 10 years. Since leaving public politics, he has
pursued interests that are core to his beliefs of building a better
society. In 2008 he launched the Tony
Blair Faith Foundation, which aims to build bridges between diverse religious
groups through a better understanding, and mutual respect.His predominant role since leaving public office is as Quartet
Representative to the Middle East. He represents the
United States of America, United Nations, Russia and the European Union,
working with the Palestinians to prepare for statehood as part of the
international community’s effort to secure peace.
Retired Archbishop
Desmond Tutu has become a global icon of hope, justice and equality. He
fought against apartheid, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his courage
and commitment in striving for equality. He has remained outspoken on issues
that traverse human rights and is now Chairman of the Elders, a group of
international leaders who leverage their integrity, experience and credibility to
tackle some of the world’s toughest problems.
Internationally-acclaimed
Professor Michael Porter is indisputably the foremost authority on modern
competitive strategy. He has published
over 17 books on marketing strategy and business competitiveness. He advises governments and business leaders and
his 1998 book The Competitive Advantage
of Nations guides economic policy in countless nations and regions.
Other South African thought leaders that will
participate in the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit are Finance Minister
Pravin Gordhan; Sizwe Nxasana, CEO of FirstRand
Group and Stephen Koseff, CEO of Investec.
“Intellectual Capital. Shared.” is the theme of this year’s Summit, which
encapsulates the event’s objectives of sharing knowledge, experience and
insight from the world’s leading pioneers in spheres as diverse as politics,
commerce, business, and leadership.
